Why the rim changes everything

The useful edge

A rim is where an object meets the hand or the mouth. A softer edge feels different from a crisp one. Look at the profile as closely as the colour: it often tells you more about how a piece will live with you.

Use a soft cloth and mild soap. For any released piece, follow its individual care label rather than assuming that all ceramics are dishwasher safe.

Blue, in small doses — editorial reference

A colour study

Blue, in small doses

Cobalt can be a whole surface, a fine line or a small surprise inside a cup. Against pale clay, even a little colour has weight. This is the starting point for our blue-and-chalk palette.

Avoid moving ceramic pieces directly between very hot and very cold environments.
